Swedish architect Karin Matz renovated the HB6B Home, a compact Stockholm apartment, for herself.
Matz decided to go for an "unpolished" look, choosing to leave the crumbling brick and peeling plaster walls exposed. She explains,"I wanted to keep some of this old feeling and atmosphere [,] but at the same time do the new added parts properly and in my way. Therefore [,] it became a clear division between the added and the existing." The apartment allows the stories it has accumulated over the years to live on, whilst simultaneously filling it with the necessary elements to accommodate a new story and owner.
Given that the apartment clocks in at a modest 36 square meters, Matz had to be as space-efficient as possible. For instance, she situated the bed on an elevated platform with shelving and drawers located underneath.
