As the design of Hay Strike shows, the common matchbook has been hankering for a decent redesign for years now. In this case, it has received one that many will find extremely attractive. So much so that they can easily be displayed as home decor rather than tucked away in a corner or pocket.
Created by Swedish designer Clara von Zweigbergk, and American product designer Shane Schneck, the Hay Strike matchbook is brightly colored, geometrically patterned and available in various sizes. In fact, that pattern happens to double as the practical striking surface of the box.
The Hay Strike matchbook comes in seven different models that include such hues as yellow, orange, teal and red. Although unisex, Hay Strike easily appeals more to females than males.
