'H Arquitectes,' a Catalonian architecture studio, recently designed a house in Barcelona with a series of sliding polycarbonate walls that effectively make up the entirety of the facade. Though an interesting design feature in their own right, the real advantage of the walls is that they give the house's residents easy and direct access to their small backyard garden and the their parents' house (which adjoins it.)
The polycarbonate walls have a vaguely industrial looks to them, but that appearance isn't out of place in the neighborhood. The house is located in the Cerdanola del Valles district, north of the Barcelona city center, so such industrial flavorings to residential designs are common.
