G-Star RAW unleashed a highly sustainable pair of denim jeans entitled the 'G-Star Elwood RFTPi jeans' as part of its Spring/Summer 2018 collection. In creating these jeans, the brand collaborated with Dystar, Artistic Milliners and Saitex. To ensure that these denim pants are sustainable, they were made with a indigo dye using a different processing method to preserve the quality, while reducing the usage of salt, toxic chemicals and water. Additionally, G-Star RAW has also ensured that it uses all-organic cotton materials to construct the denim.
A notable feature of the pants is that there are no zippers -- promoting eco-friendly metal buttons instead as well as adding responsibly sourced labels. The Corporate Responsibility Director of the brand, Frouke Bruinsma states, "Our new denim fabric and its revolutionary indigo process will become an open source for the rest of the industry to use. We would like to invite others to join us towards cleaner and more ethical denim production globally."
The G-Star Elwood RFTPi denim will be available for purchase online and in stores on February this year.
