Gregory Euclide Produces Paintings on a Dry Erase Board

Gregory Euclide, an artist and high school teacher in Minnesota, has created a series of prints for the David B Smith gallery. The portfolio named Laid Down & Wiped Away stemmed from a creative out-burst that Euclide had during his 25-minute lunch break from teaching.

The pieces were all created on the white board Euclide uses to teach on. Using sumi-ink on a dry erase board, he painted intricate landscape portraits. Each was done in black and white and show’s multiple perspectives. The portraits are deeply layered with detail. Since they were all created on the white board, Euclide was then able to erase areas of the artwork, allowing him to add intricate designs to each piece.

The sumi ink adds an especially nice touch to the waterfall areas in some of the pieces. The city meets nature pieces are also sensational and have a provocative and surreal take on the world we live in.

In total Euclide produced eight different images and before being erased were made into a series of prints that will be shown in the gallery.
