The ‘Portrait of America’ is the First Google Glass Art

David Datuna created the first Google glass artwork titled ‘Portrait of America,’ and it is comprised of two thousand eyeglass lenses and 400 portraits to produce a mosaic American flag.

The sculpture is a 12-foot flag and embedded below the lenses are historical contemporary figures who have helped to make America what it is today, both politically and culturally. Some iconic images include portraits of George Washington and Martin Luther King, Jr. as well as Lady Gaga and Steve Jobs.

Dutunsa says, "I want to show the American culture, the American journey." The piece is interactive; by slipping on a pair of frames and answering some basic opinionated questions like, "What is the greatest invention?," the cameras embedded will record your responses then snap a picture of you. After that is complete, the digital collages will be shared with everyone via social media platforms. Datuna’s work is progressive and changing art to be more engaging while incorporating topical creations and publicizing it through media.
