Aluminum Finned Apartment Complexes

The Goodwood Residence Raises its Outdoor Cabin into the Trees

Local Singaporean architecture and design studio WOHA Architects recently completed The Goodwood Residence. The apartment complex features 210 apartments, with all the units facing a central courtyard. The 2.5 hectare is a 12-storey L-shaped structure and was inspired by the theme of continuity with Goodwood Hill nearby. The exterior of the apartment complex is responsive to the amount of daylight flowing through the constructs by the use of aluminum finned sunscreens that can be raised or lowered.

Out of the 210 apartments, 15 apartment units on the second and third levels connect to outdoor cabin raised amongst trees. Keeping the element of sustainability in mind, staggered balconies rise up from the fourth to the eleventh floor to provide as a shade from the heat.
