Revamped Sport Hatchbacks

The Golf GTI TCR Strikes a New and Aggressive Body for Improved Speed

The Volkswagen Golf GTI has been a staple sports hatchback for years now, but the German automaker is hoping to replace it with the new Golf GTI TCR. While the current GTI is capable of 220-horsepower, the new GTI TCR will feature 286-horsepower and can allegedly reach speeds of 264km/h. This vehicle will be in many ways similar to the current GTI racecar but will be completely road legal and designed to better hold passengers without sacrificing speed and performance.

Like the current GTI, the Golf GTI TCR will be front-wheel drive and will only be available in a manual transmission. The body has been redesigned to pay homage to the classic hatchback but also present an aerodynamic and aggressive silhouette. The Golf GTI TCR will make its official debut at the annual Wörthersee show in Austria.
