The New London Skyscraper Has Been Blamed for Reflecting Sun

A skyscraper in London, nicknamed the 'Death Ray,' was accused for causing serious problems to the street below because of its shape. The shape of the building reflects sunlight causing magnified heat and light to shine down. The building, originally named the 'Walkie-Talkie' because of its curvy shape, reflects sun on a hotspot for about two hours a day, that scorches the street and the pedestrians traveling on it. It's caused fires, melted parts of cars, damaged paintwork, cracked tiles and even smoked a carpet. According to the news, a journalist even fried an egg on the hotspot!

The skyscraper's new name is officially the 'Walkie Scorchie' located near 20 Fenchurch Street in London, England. Builders of the tower said they were aware of the risk but believed there would not be a problem. It looks like they were seriously wrong! Thankfully, plans to repair the tower are being discussed.
