This Interactive Virtual City Encourages Donations This Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday brings with it many socially good initiatives to make up for the opulent spending on the weekend prior that is sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. One of such initiatives is employing an interactive virtual reality experience to encourage young people to donate to charity in a fun way.

Crowdrise, a crowdfunding charity founded by actor Edward Norton, teamed up with Secret Location, an L.A. and Toronto-based content studio, to create an app that showcases the cumulative power of people's donations. Using emerging technologies, Secret Location created a virtual city full of iconic buildings from around the world, centered around a 'Giving Tower,' which grows taller with each donation made. Mobile users can donate and download the app to immerse themselves in this city, exploring the Freedom Tower and the Great Pyramid of Giza from below, beside and above.

Using the same platforms that Millennials already use for entertainment purposes, the Giving Tower project excites young people about donating to worthy causes this Giving Tuesday.
