Paper Ghostly Art

The Ghostly Mark Series by Matthew Shlian is Intricately Minimalist

The Ghostly art series by Matthew Shlian is part of a larger project that was created to interpret the logo of the online store of the same name. Shaped like the iconic villains in Pac-Man, the Ghostly art series envisions the logo as an intricate paper sculpture that is incredibly subtle but utterly captivating.

Celebrating the store's 15th anniversary, the Ghostly art series was first rendered as a 3D model in Rhino. The layers are laid out in a careful manner and cutout using a flatbed plotter cutter. Although the process is much more complex and sophisticated than that, it is undeniable that there is a simplicity to the Ghostly art series that is reflected in the overall black or white finished product.
