The new design for the George Lucas Museum has officially been approved for Chicago, with the proposal by MAD architects featuring a 360-degree restaurant and much more green public space within. The exterior still boasts a halo-like viewing deck that is surrounded by a metallic structure.
While not explicit, the white, tent-like design has a slight celestial look to it, with a continuously curving shape that opposes modern geometric architecture. The museum design has been highly controversial as it is located on the waterfront of Lake Michigan. Therefore, it requires to create more public space and will do so with dunes that will be connected to paths and trails.
The entire footprint of the original George Lucas Museum was cut by 40 percent and windows were added to give views of the outside parks and waterfront.
