NVIDIA Adds GeForce Now 90fps And GOG Syncing

NVIDIA updated its GeForce Now cloud-gaming service at Game Developers Conference, adding native GOG account linking and a 90 fps streaming mode for compatible VR headsets, including Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest. The 90 fps option, available to Ultimate subscribers starting March 19, was introduced to boost visual smoothness and responsiveness in virtual reality play.

The update also brought in-app labels that highlight playable titles tied to linked Xbox and Ubisoft accounts, plus expanded account linking to include GOG alongside previously supported services. GeForce Now is also growing its Install-to-Play library with select Xbox titles and will host several new releases at cloud launch.

For players, higher frame rates and clearer account-based labeling reduced friction when jumping into games across devices, improving immersion and discoverability. The changes reinforce a trend toward platform interoperability and higher-fidelity cloud experiences for VR and cross-device gamers.

Trend Themes

  1. High-framerate VR Streaming — Higher-frame-rate streaming for VR is enabling perceptibly smoother and more responsive virtual experiences that raise user expectations for cloud rendering fidelity.
  2. Platform Account Interoperability — Expanded cross-service account linking is reducing friction in game discovery and play by consolidating user libraries and entitlements across ecosystems.
  3. Install-to-play Cloud Libraries — Growing install-to-play catalogs are shifting release strategies toward instant-access cloud launches that blur lines between local ownership and streaming availability.

Industry Implications

  1. Cloud Gaming Platforms — Cloud gaming infrastructures are positioned to redefine compute allocation and delivery models as they support higher framerates and broader storefront integrations.
  2. VR Hardware and Headsets — Headset makers face pressure to optimize display pipelines and thermal design for sustained high-fidelity streaming at elevated frame rates.
  3. Game Distribution and Stores — Digital storefronts and distributors are evolving into aggregation layers that emphasize cross-account visibility and seamless access to titles across multiple services.
