Dripping Bronze Sculptures

Urs Fischer Presents Mermaid / Pig / Bro w/ Hat at Gagosian in New York

Urs Fischer is known for his slightly dramatic sculptures, and his latest instalment at the Gagosian in New York is no different. The exhibition is titled 'Mermaid / Pig / Bro w/ Hat,' and focuses on dripping bronze statues with an eery effect.

The collection is also in reference to previous work that the artist has done, so some of the designs are quite similar to statues created over a year ago. Although the sculptures are made from cast bronze, when glancing from afar they still appear like half-finished clay pieces. Because the dripping look is intentional, one can understand that Urs Fischer was in fact complete when he gave these statues to the gallery, but looking from afar it would be easy to think that they are half finished.
