The winning design is that of London-based firm Perkins and Will who will have a plethora of collaborators for the project, including Madrid-based practice Rafael de La-Hoz, German landscape architects Latz + Partner and Spanish engineering consultants TYPSA. The project is described as "resilient and innovative," as well.
The concept for the European Commissions office also puts emphasis on sustainability as the future-proof building will employ an infrastructure that guarantees 50% less carbon dioxide emissions and frugal use of energy resources. In addition to all of this, the future-proof building project is expected to evolve the neighborhood, creating "opportunities to drive forward new standards in sustainability and wellbeing."
