l’Opificio Presents Its New Collections in Milan

l’Opificio, a textile company specializing in furnishing fabrics, will present three new collections — INCISA, SIGNUM, and FIORA — alongside a restyling of its Velvet Icons collections VELLUTO DI SETA and VELLUTO DI COTON, at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026.

The INCISA, SIGNUM, and FIORA were designed by Chiara Andreatti. INCISA draws inspiration from natural textures such as bark and marble. It features irregular slanted marks that create depth and visual movement. SIGNUM, on the other hand, employs graphic, archetypal forms reminiscent of primordial script with doubled, misaligned shapes that generate chromatic vibration. Finally, FIORA offers a poetic floral pattern derived from oil pastel gestures that produces a diffused, atmospheric luminosity. All three collections are produced using the lampas weaving technique in blends of linen and viscose, cotton and viscose, and cotton chenille.

Trend Themes

  1. Textile Surface Texture Revival — Revived attention to bark-, marble- and pastel-inspired textures suggests fabric surfaces can become primary aesthetic signatures that redefine perceived material luxury.
  2. Graphic-weave Chromatic Vibration — Chromatic misalignment and doubled motifs point to a trend where controlled optical interference in weave patterns creates visually dynamic upholstery that reads differently under varied lighting.
  3. Artisanal-tech Material Blends — Blends of linen, viscose, cotton and chenille produced with traditional lampas weaving indicate a convergence of heritage techniques and engineered yarns to deliver sustainable high-end performance textiles.

Industry Implications

  1. Luxury Furniture — Designer-grade furnishing fabrics offer a route for manufacturers to differentiate through tactile and visual complexity that can command premium pricing and bespoke collections.
  2. Hospitality Design — Richly textured and luminous fabrics present opportunities for hotels and restaurants to cultivate distinctive atmospheres and reinforce brand identity through curated soft surfaces.
  3. Automotive Interiors — High-performance woven blends and novel surface patterns suggest potential to replace conventional trims with textile-led interiors that elevate perceived comfort and aesthetic refinement.
