Top Cherry by Giorgia Zanellato Focuses on Contrasting Textures

Top Cherry is a series of fruit-displaying glass sculptures that showcases the contrasting outer and inner textures of the different produce. In addition to cherries, it incorporates plums, apples and pineapples to show how all of their properties can be enjoyed simultaneously while also giving color to the transparent glass.

Created for Fabrica, Benetton’s Research Center in Italy, by Giorgia Zanellato, the fruit-displaying glass sculptures incorporates Miami deco architecture. Although completely devoid of color, the geometric shapes are singular. The fruit-displaying glass sculptures are comprised of four stands in total. The designer writes, " The fruits are split in two parts: the top part with the natural aspect of the fruit itself, and the carved part that melts with the glass pieces creating a strong connection."
