Efficient Fruit Packaging

VitaPack Makes It Easy to Transport a Pack of Oranges Home

The VitaPack fruit packaging concept by Hungary's Ágnes Gyömrei is an entry in the 19th Year Of The International Young Package Competition. Instead of carrying a bunch of oranges home from the store by bag, this design takes two forms, giving shoppers a choice of how to transport the fresh produce home. In one form, the oranges can be folded to sit in a neatly stacked arrangement of four, or alternatively this shape can be undone, causing the fruits to stack vertically one on top of another.

Inspiration for the design comes from the brown paper bag, which has been used since 1844 and celebrates its 170th anniversary this year. Although plastic has been favored for the past couple of years, this design shows that paper packaging has the potential to make a comeback.
