Valentine's Produce Packaging

Lidl's Fresh Fruit Packaging Features Commonly Used Love Emojis

For Valentine's Day, global discount supermarket chain Lidl created a fun series of fresh fruit packaging based around popular fruit emojis, which are often used to express loving—and sometimes risqué—messages.

The supermarket chain created packaging for some of the most commonly used love emojis, including bananas, peaches and eggplants, by creating message boxes to share with a Valentine. In place of sending someone a digital version of any one of these emojis, shoppers had the chance to gift a "tangible and fresh emoji" from Lidl. On the opposite side of the box showing the fresh fruit, Lidl created a customizable message panel where a special message could be shared in a few lines of text.
