Photographer Philip Holt toured his son's fraternity house and was inspired to create a candid photo series that attempted to capture what the college institutions were like.
Holt took photos of several fraternities including Delta Upsilon and Zeta Beta Xi. Holt had arrived to visit his son the night after a party had occurred at the fraternity house, and wanted to capture the rooms he found so fascinating, saying, "I couldn't have propped them better." Holt photographed various rooms in the house and then photographed the fraternity men in front of a white backdrop and superimposed them onto the images of the rooms.
Holt's take away of fraternity life after the photo shoot was, "I felt they had a common goal and purpose in life. There were there for each other."
