Collaborative Cabinet Creations

The Fragmented Processes by Itay Ohaly Was Designed by 8 Friends

Fragmented Processes by Itay Ohaly is like the furniture design equivalent of the Mad Libs game. Instead of combining a string of random words generated by separate people to create a creatively incongruous and nonsensical story, eight friends were asked to help to design a cabinet. Part of the Israeli designer's Design and Chaos collection, every separate step needed to create the cabinet was taken on by a different individual, only slightly supervised by Ohaly.

Although it takes on a unique shape, Fragmented Processes by Itay Ohaly does have common four-legged and shelved elements. Ohaly reveals, "I tried to find ways where the designer has less control. I’m trying to find ways to surprise myself…at the end I was surprised. Sometimes it was even too much, because I wanted to create functional objects."
