Coral Reef-Inspired Institutes

Foster + Partners Unveil a New Design for a Saudi Arabian Institute

The famous British studio Foster + Partners has worked on a design for a new marine center at the Amaala resort in Saudi Arabia. The structural design is meant to be "the world's first fully immersive experiential marine life center." It takes on the shape of a coral reef. The architectural firm is working closely with The Red Sea Development Company on this project.

Foster + Partners' design embraces glass-reinforced concrete panels and a structural steel frame. The organic shape of the proposed institute is definitely eye-catching, as well. On the inside, the futuristic marine institute will feature "integrated exhibition displays [that will] take visitors on a journey through the Red Sea." In addition to the exhibition potential, the building will also host the labs for The Red Sea Development Company.

The marine center will be able to host up to 650 people.
