Medicom Toy's New Bearbrick Celebrates Chinese New Year

Japanese collectible manufacturer Medicom Toy recently unveiled a new version of its popular Bearbrick figurine, which is inspired by fortune cats, or "Chinese lucky cats." The new version is said to have been created in celebration of Chinese New Year, and will be available for purchase on January 13th from Medicom Toy and its carriers for about $466 USD.

The fortune cat Bearbrick makes use of the same rounded shape as the brand's other versions, however it's covered in gold paint and detailed with vivid accessories like a bib and bell on the front, and bows on its tail. Calligraphic lettering adorns the belly of the figurine as well, and a cartoon-like cat's face and ears finish it off.
