Race Car-Inspired Drones

Vantage Robotics Designed a Drone That's Based on a Formula 1 Race Car

California-based company Vantage Robotics created a drone that uses the Formula 1 race car as its inspiration. The robots feature a high-resolution aerial camera and its race car-inspiration makes it virtually crash-proof.

The drones use the model of the Formula 1 race car by incorporating removable parts that can easily be replaced when needed. With this, the design can be efficiently upgraded and the base of the drone isn't damaged in the event of a crash. The Formula 1 race car model makes it more portable as well, with the parts able to be taken off and quickly reattached for travel.

Creators Tobin Fisher and Joe Van Niekerk wanted to use the race cars as their inspiration when they saw how capable the machines were in dealing with damage all while protecting its driver. In order to mirror this, the drone is made to simply break apart in a collision.
