The Force Planter embodies an unusual artistic quality when compared to other types of flower pots. Usually you get decoration through form, texture and color, but this piece has a more philosophical message embedded in its unique shape. What Bentu Design created was a concrete block with soil in the center, but it's top features a continuous surface of the hard industrial material so that the object looks like a solid rock.
Now, the most important detail of the Force Planter is the spiderweb cracking of the concrete from the middle. A broken chip opens it up slightly, letting a fine beam of light inside and allowing a small stem to escape. This is a beautiful and thought-provoking piece that comments on the break between the natural and the artificial environments.
