The Folklore Sculpture installation is utterly entertaining. It takes traditional sports equipment such as skateboards and surfboards and turns them on their heads. Whether it is the fins of the latter taking on hilarious Elvis-like character traits through expertly painted illustrations or the former being warped into more of a U-shape, the pieces in the Folklore Sculpture installation are fun to behold.
Created by Stevie Gee, an artist based in London, England, the Folklore Sculpture installation is part of a larger exhibit also showcasing works from Nathaniel Russell, Evan Hecox, Ed Templeton and Stephen Powers. It is currently showing at the Joshua Liner Gallery in New York City. This recent crop of work does fall in line with his statement, "I like to create love in peoples hearts as well as art and fun stuff."
