Industrial design student HaYoung Lee created this foldable cardboard desk as a way to improve studying conditions for impoverished youth.
After traveling through India, Lee noticed that many children would sit on the ground or on narrow staircases to complete their school work. As an industrial design student, he decided he would develop a product that would be affordable, transportable, easy to dispose of, yet still sturdy. HaYoung Lee is based in Seoul and largely works in industrial, product and interior design, so this project came naturally to him.
The finished product is a foldable cardboard desk that is easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Kids can discard the desk if needed and it will have minimal environmental impact. This corrugated cardboard desk uses minimal space and is just the right height for children to sit comfortably at.
