Bulbous Flower Vases

The Booming Flower Vases Look Like They're About to Explode

'Booming Vases' is a series of flower vases made in a collaboration by master ceramist Alessio Sarri and the two Italian designers behind the Analogia Project, Andrea Mancuso and Emilia Serra.

Inspired by air and matter, the trio's project involved exploding the forms of white ceramic with rounded shapes. This is done while the ceramic is still fresh and it creates the look of an organic growth inside of the geometric vases. The expansion of the ceramic is especially noticeable when a colored paint is applied to the surface and the white ceramic underneath crackles through.

The vases represent a contrast in heaviness and fragility and when a finished plant is placed inside, it looks like the flower is actually a rooted plant that is causing the vase to crack.
