The Colors of the Netherlands’ Flower Fields Pop in These

The expansive flower fields of the Netherlands come alive in this gallery of aerial photographs.

Taken by Flickr user Bruxelles5 from a small propeller plane piloted by Claython Pender, all of the colors of the rainbow are present and accounted for in these shots. The striking colors contrast beautifully with the waterways and wind turbines to create a vision of a tulip-infused utopia.

All of the shots were taken over what was formerly known as the municipality of Anna Paulowna, which as of January 1, 2012 was amalgamated with three other towns into a larger municipality now known as Hollands Kroon.

The tulip has been a symbol of the Netherlands since 1953, when the first tulip was planted on Holland soil. Judging from these shots, the tulip has become just slightly popular in the Netherlands since.
