Floating Hippo Artwork

Florentijn Hofman Sends the Hippopothames Down the London River

The well-known artist Florentijn Hofman has added to his collection of jumbo toys in odd areas, with the latest being a giant hippo floating down the Thames River in London. It is aptly named the 'Hippopothames.'

The massive piece of artwork is made of wood panelling, with large eyes painted on the front and pink details for the nose and ears. Apparently the hippo also references the animals that used to be in this area of the world. However, this is speaking to events that happened long, long ago. The artwork is part of a contribution to a 30 day festival happening along the river in London, and presenting a giant floating hippo is certainly a memorable one.
