Rafael Viñoly Architects Showcases Plans for Florence Airport

American design studio Rafael Viñoly Architects unveils a look at its plans for the international terminal at Italy's Florence Airport. It is defined by a vineyard addition and takes over a large 50,000 square meter space. Some of the defining features that have now been confirmed include the large sloped roof which is going to be lined with skylights and 38 rows of usable vineyards.

The studio speaks about the design process and how it stands out, stating "Unique to the new terminal will be a 19-acre (7.7 hectares) vineyard that gently slopes upward to embrace the sky-lit airport terminal. A leading vintner from the region will cultivate the vineyards, and the wine will be crafted and aged in specialized cellars beneath the terminal's roof."
