Fish Matrix Systems

The Oceansphere Will Produce 1,000 Tons of Tuna

The Oceansphere is a fish matrix that is purported to raise 1,000 tons of ahi and bluefin tuna. That's a lot of food for a lot of people. Described as "a gigantic highly automated fish farm," the Oceansphere takes on the form of a large glass sphere that is as beautiful to behold as it is practical.

Set to be installed at the end of the year with harvesting as soon as 2017, the incredible fish matrix is chock full of technology including automatic feeding system, water quality sensors and thrusters that keep the sphere stationary. Developed by Hawaii Oceanic Technology (HOT), CEO Bill Spencer states, "The deep ocean is the only place left to produce enough seafood naturally to feed the world efficiently, economically and with minimal environmental impact."
