Artist Laura Gilbert's upcoming exhibition could not be more timely given the worsening worldwide financial crisis. Entitled 'Money, Men and Mischief,' the highlight is her zero dollar bill art. She recently started passing out, for free, the first of 10,000 zero-dollar bill limited-edition art prints in front of the New York Stock Exchange.
Gilbert's artwork is about "the destructive role of many financial institutions, and the decline of U.S. currency to the point of seeming worthlessness." She uses commodities and minerals such as gold, aluminium, copper, and palladium in her art pieces together with the zero dollar bills.
Her exhibiton opens on October 24 at the Grady Alexis Gallery's El Taller Latino Americano on Broadway.
