'Fill in the Cat' Features Excisions of Animals to Afford Storage

The 'Fill in the Cat' collection might not be your stylistic cup of tea, but it must be easy to appreciate the utterly endearing features of the design. The NEL collective took the image of a bowing cat and that of a perched bird, representing them through the negative space of whimsical excised blocks.

From solid pieces of white material, a chair and a modular block were produced. The latter can function as a coffee table, a side table or as part of a stacked shelf-like structure. The animal-shaped voids welcome the arrangement of various objects so that the pieces behave as storage systems. Many of the cutouts of the 'Fill in the Cat' collection are jagged geometric openings that appear to invite the stashing of books.
