The Featherlight Hanging Lamp is Inspired by Model Planes

The Featherlight Hanging Lamp may look like an unfinished light fixture, but it was purposely crafted to allow the wooden frame to take precedence over any other material. Inspired by a childhood love of model glider planes, the light incorporates the same materials found in those kits. This includes balsahout, oracover (shrink film), ceramic and fabric wrapped cord. The use of the shrink film gives the illumination a soft glow.

Created by Daniel Hulsbergen, a designer based in Waalre, The Netherlands, the Featherlight Hanging Lamp was also crafted using the same techniques required to build a model plane. Nevertheless, its framework takes on a shape more akin to a house, the Featherlight Hanging Lamp. It is available five colors including white, beige linen and balsa.
