The Family Link Will Soon Make YouTube Music Available to Kids

The Family Link will soon make YouTube Music and other parts of the video streaming site available to children. Only now is YouTube Music receiving the same functionality as part of the ability to switch from YouTube Kids to the main YouTube sites for supervised accounts.

The YouTube Music app will be available for iOS, Android, and the web in the coming weeks. Their smart TVs will also allow them to access YouTube on these supervised accounts. Google explained that the content available to a child's account on YouTube, YouTube Music, and YouTube Kids depends on the content settings chosen by the parent.

Parents can select between three options: Explore, Explore More, and Most of YouTube. Kids who are ready for regular YouTube can move to the Explore tier and explore the site's content. Content on the Explore More tier is aimed at children who are 13 and older. Videos from this setting will be organized into the same categories as those from the Explore tier. Last but not least, 'Most of YouTube' has videos that span almost the entire YouTube website, except for those that are age-restricted. It also contains sensitive topics that older teens may enjoy.
