Fake Unboxing Videos

Samsung Omnia i900 Promo

Samsung has created a promotional video for the new Samsung Omnia i900 phone to attract new consumers, and to add a touch of glamour to its product.

We have featured this phone on Trend Hunter and listed its specs before, which are similar to the iPhone, such as the GPS radio, 5-megapixel camera and MP4 player. What is really neat about this video, however, is the strategy behind it. Samsung created a fake YouTube ID (Technivator), and shot a video of a man 'unboxing' the Omnia i900. Then, as you see from the video, added the special effects and composited footage to create a realistic-looking 'viral' video. Samsung posted it online, and it naturally spread around.

If this was real, then I would have actually thought of buying Samsung's iPhone wannabe.
