Sprites For Spring/Summer 2008

Stylish women wanting to stay ahead of the fashion game had getter begin getting enchanted by the world of fairies, sprites and nymphs. Taking a look at the most recent runways, it looks like these mythical creatures were the inspiration for several influential designers in their Spring/Summer 2008 collections.

Nina Ricci marched a stunning red head down the runway, her whimsical dress and feathered hair accessories alluding to the nymphs that may have inspired the collection.

Ironically (or not) Erin Fetherston adorned her models in feathers and very pale pastels. The light, glittering dresses were accessorized by feathered ear coverings that looked much like angel wings. The entire look, complete with thick, white mascara couldn't help evoking thoughts of the ice fairies in Disney's Fantasia.

Alexander McQueen, on the other hand, when for cheekier fairies adorned with black wings.

Y & Kei created this dress that looks like the type of feathered suit a wise old owl would wear; if there was a fairy godmother of the owl world, this is what she would wear.

Prada paired golden gladiator gators with a delicately see-through dress featuring an image of a fairy.
