Tobias Gutmann Makes Unique Portraits at Interactive Illustration Booth

The Face-O-Mat is a low-fi, interactive photo booth that allows you to flip levers and switches to customize a portrait that creator Tobias Gutmann will draw for you.

The mechanics of the booth consist of the artist on one side, with basic art supplies like paint, pens and paper to create completely unique images for each person who sits at the booth.

The Face-O-Mat challenges mass production and instant gratification by creating an experience that has users stop and sit down for three minutes to interact with the artist, face-to-face. The simple setup offers insight into how the immediacy of technology has changed how we communicate and consume.

The travelling Face-O-Mat recently visited the Milan Furniture Fair and is quite portable, so "it can travel anywhere to make people happy."
