'Eye of the Beholder' is Not What it Appears to Be

'Eye of the Beholder' is the latest project from David and Aguilar. The London-based creative duo do not limit themselves to just one medium or even one profession. Their portfolio demonstrates just how easily fine art and photography work within the context of conceptual advertising and the Luxury brand sector.

The black and white photographs from Eye of the Beholder look like they were shot in the 1930s, somewhere in rural America. The expressions the people wear do not at all seem put on. They seem to be actual people making their way through life during the Great Depression. This couldn't be further from the truth, however.

The pictures were not shot in the 1930s nor are they candid glimpses at the lives of everyday people during that era; rather the series was photographed in 2012 and is actually a fashion shoot made in collaboration with designer Filippo la Bruna.
