Etihad Airways partnered with a travel management company, CWT, to launch a carbon offsetting scheme, marking the first partnership of its kind. The eco-conscious initiative forms part of the Corporate Conscious Choices program from the United Arab Emirates' flag-carrier.
The airline will use the ICAO Carbon Emissions Calculation methodology to offset CWT client bookings made on Etihad-operated flights to accomplish a carbon offset. The program will run until the end of arch 2022.
According to Patrick Andersen, the chief commercial officer at CWT, the company is "seeking more environmentally responsible travel solutions." Its initial offsetting partnership with Etihad marks a ground-breaking airline initiative for both companies. Etihad aims to realize its sustainability goals to reduce carbon emissions in the air with help from CWT.
