Estudio Normal, an Argentinian design firm, recently created what it refers to as a "fortress of solitude" for a Buenos Aires chef's apartment. Built out of wicker and various woods, the structure augments the loft of his home to create a space for relaxation and calm meditation.
Restaurant kitchens are notoriously hectic places, so it's only natural for a chef to crave peace and quiet once back at home. Since the home that contains the room was once a warehouse, it's high ceilings and concrete offer just the opposite. The bustle and noise of a young family was amplified by the original architecture, which is where Estudio Normal stepped in.
The new space is divided into four small rooms: one for sleeping, one for eating, one for working, and the last for simply relaxing.
