Henry Hargreaves' Ernest Hemingway Pictures are Cleverly Done

Inspired by numerous impersonators on the the birthday of the iconic writer, Henry Hargreaves has captured some enthralling Ernest Hemingway pictures. He was able to gather the subjects at an impersonation contest that consists of wrestling, drinking, fishing, bull running and readings of Hemingway's writings.

One of the most interesting aspects of this photography series is the premise behind the facial expressions depicted by the impersonators. Hargreaves asked the men to imagine they were Hemingway just as he was coming back from a plane crash in Africa. The theme of the shots was to recreate the iconic Ernest Hemingway pictures from 1957 that were taken by Yousef Karsh. What's amazing about the photos is the uncanny resemblance that the impersonators have to the actual portraits from the past.
