Christophe Machet Uses Sewage Pipes as Furniture Material

A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Paris-based designer Christophe Machet launched a furniture collection of environmentally friendly chairs, ultimately subscribing to the principle of sustainability and the vast need to "go green" with material usage. The creative opted in for "poor and unsexy sewage pipes" and transformed them into industrial-inspired furniture that boasts color pops and a modern aesthetic. With his smartly designed pieces, Christophe Machet hopes to motivate consumers to be wary of the possibility of material re-use and its translation to fully functioning and stylish pieces of interior decor. The creative used a cost-effective PVC pipe for the backrest and the frame, while the seat and legs are constructed out of plywood.

Dubbed 'The Pipeline,' the capsule of environmentally friendly chairs debuted at Milan Design Week.
