Emmanuel Jose Re-Imagines the Faces of Card Decks

I don't think too many people take the time to appreciate the artwork on playing card decks anymore, but if I managed to get my hands on a set that looked like these Emmanuel Jose paper cut illustrations, I'd be sure to stare at them more thoroughly before throwing down a winning hand in front of my peers.

Emmanuel Jose is a paper artist and the images you are staring at are part of a 52-week project he is embarking on where he'll carve out every single card in a standard playing deck. Some of these illustrations would be hard enough to make with a pen and paper, so to imagine Jose using an X-Acto knife to cut out these 2-feet tall images is simply amazing.
