Illusory Aqueous Desks

The EMKE Office Reception Features a Whimsical Watery Bureau

The environment was the inspiration behind a corporate renovation by LAB5 Architects and Tamás Ábel, and the EMKE office reception demonstrates this swimmingly. The large desk where visitors are received has been done up to look liquid, with a completely unique surface of aquatic undulations.

A process of calculated crafting made this elaborate object possible. Individual sheets of glass were cut with irregularly curved edges and stacked to assemble a smooth and wave-like facade. The gorgeous turquoise colour that's rarely visible within this material is let to shine through, giving the entire piece a truly oceanic appearance. The EMKE office reception desk exists in a great open atrium, acting as an eye-catching accent amidst a minimalist assortment of green-themed features.
