Edward Burtynsky Gives Us a Bird's Eye View of the BP Oil Spill

The Gulf oil spill may be over and done with, but Edward Burtynsky's photos remind you just how bad things once were. These photos were taken in May, about a month after the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig that caused the spill.

Most photos of the oil spill were taken at eye-level. Those photos don't show you the whole scope of the spill like Edward Burtynsky's photos. You can see miles and miles of ocean covered in oil, dotted with lone skimmers trying to complete an impossible task.
