Earthfoam's Mattresses are Packaged in Paper Instead of Plastic

Earthfoam makes natural foam rubber mattresses that are fair trade and organic certified and as much care is put into the packaging of the sustainable mattresses. In place of using plastic to wrap its products, Earthfoam opted to be the first mattress brand to use heavy Kraft paper. Once the organic mattress is wrapped, it's placed in a cardboard box for a shipping process that's more environmentally friendly than most bed-in-box providers.

As Karl Shevick, founder and CEO of Earthfoam, describes, "We use a machine from a company called C3 that specializes in this type of packaging. The mattress first gets fed into a machine where it is rolled up and wrapped in paper. As it is being wrapped, an adhesive gets applied to the paper, which prevents it from unrolling during transit."
