Unmanned Eco Road Trips

Two Driverless Electric Vehicles Have Set Off on an 8,000 Mile Journey

Two orange electric vehicles will soon head off for the longest journey ever held without a driver. The project is designed to study the limits of future automotive technology. These vehicles will depart from Italy and go through Moscow, Siberia and the Gobi desert before reaching Shanghai at the end of October 2010.

These electric vehicles are controlled via remote control, and are equipped with seven video cameras and four laser scanners. The whole credit goes to an artificial vision and intelligent systems lab at Italy's University of Parma.
