The Donna Karan Spring 2010 Line is Fluid and Earthy

Trust Donna Karan to make burlap look effortless and sophisticated. Featuring matte jerseys, light linens, and the aforementioned burlap -- that somehow looked weightless -- the Donna Karan’s Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection was all about draping with an overall unswept air. According to her show notes, the line was "inspired by the power of the elements—the sky, water, wind, sand, earth, and fire."

Such was obvious in the earthy palette, which ranged from granite and white, to bright coral and sand. Elemental properties was also apparent in the Donna Karan Spring 2010 collection, with some garments appearing molded and twisted around models’ bodies as if they had just encountered heavy winds. Hems were left open and sweeping, but the overall silhouettes were still simple and refined.

"The clothes felt very of the moment—meaning the moment many women are currently feeling to invest in solid, wearable, classic pieces rather than be tempted by those transient, of-the-moment-or-maybe-the-season-if-you’re-lucky pieces," Fashionologie said of the Donna Karan Spring 2010 line.
